Instructions:
The default command listed on the LSI KB article mentions using the -H switch, which displays help information for running the executable. You can skip this step and go directly to the log gathering.
For UNIX-based operating systems, we advise installing your distribution's version of Smartmontools prior to running the log gathering script, as this will enable LSIget to pull SMART data logs from the disks as well. When ready, run the following command to generate the logs:
# lsigetlunix.sh -D -Q
For Windows operating systems, open a command prompt as a local or enterprise administrator. Then run:
lsigetwin.bat
Windows users can also right click on the executable in Explorer and run as Administrator from the context menu.
This will generate a series of folders and a .tar.gz or .zip file in the current working directory when complete. Most of the relevant log information for the controllers will be in the "LSI Products" folder, but in most cases it is easiest to just send the resultant archive file.
Please note that the archive may contain a number of operating system configuration files that can expose sensitive details about your system. If you are concerned about the confidentiality of your data, be sure scan the output and omit sensitive files, or simply upload only the contents of the "LSI Products" folder, which only contains logs relevant to the controller topology and RAID configuration.
